At United Resources, we’ve always believed that excellence at work is only sustainable when it’s balanced by rest, joy, and time spent with the people who matter most. That’s why our annual Family Day is more than just a company trip: it’s our way of celebrating the people behind UR, together with the families who support them.
For 2025, our UR family packed our bags and headed to Malacca, a city rich in heritage, food, and culture. On 15th August, UR closed early and participating staff, along with their families, boarded a bus to Malacca.
Day 1
Upon arrival, Team UR was greeted by a hearty Nonya dinner, where tables overflowed with dishes to share and conversations to enjoy. The laughter and chatter at that dinner set the tone for the weekend to come. Afterwards, Team UR strolled down the bustling Jonker Street, where everyone got a chance to explore as they pleased. Some shopped for snacks while others went for souvenirs and knick-knacks. When the team returned to the hotel, the holiday spirit was in full swing as we sorted ourselves into teams, each represented by a safety helmet colour: because safety is always part of our DNA, even when we play.
Day 2
The morning kicked off by the pool with a Zumba-inspired warm-up, getting hearts pumping and spirits high. What followed were four high-energy games that landed most of us in the splash zone. The mix of competition and teamwork had everyone cheering, laughing, and fully immersed. By the end, 90% of us were soaked, but 100% us were smiling.
After a buffet lunch, staff and their families enjoyed a free-and-easy afternoon. Some explored Malacca’s sights and shops, while others enjoyed quiet downtime with coffee or a well-earned rest. The break was a great opportunity for staff to hang with their families and each other.
As the sun set, we came together for our Hawaiian-themed Gala Dinner. Decked in bright colours and floral prints, the night was one to remember. Highlights included a live chef cooking up char kway teow, birthday celebrations for two of our staff, and an exciting lucky draw where every person was a winner. As the night continued, we discovered hidden talents within our team as they sang and danced at karaoke, showing a different side of the colleagues we usually see in uniforms or at desks.
More Than Just a Trip
What makes UR Family Day special isn’t just the itinerary. It’s the joy of seeing colleagues and their families bond, the smiles of children running around the dinner hall, and the shared memories that remind us why we work hard together every day.
